I have been practicing medicine for over 37 years, and have served as the president of the Illinois Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Professional Certification Association.

My experience has allowed me to treat many mental health disorders, and addiction problems for individuals and couples.  Furthermore, I specialize in depression, anger issues, anxiety, and a variety of addictions/dependencies.

I use a cognitive and behavioral approach by identifying and reforming unproductive and distorted ideas/beliefs in the treatment of my patients.  My ultimate goal is for each individual to make positive advances in their life.  Moreover, breathing exercises along with relapse prevention and recovery plans assist my treatment process.  I reinforce the healing process with a direct and supportive approach.

Each of my patients can expect an unprecedented level of compassion and support from me.  I provide each individual with the tools, information, and choices to work each problem and life decision.

My training and experience as a Therapist has led me to a blend of Family Systems Theory, Psychodynamic Theory, and practical problem solving.  I have experience with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Rational Emotive Therapy.  As a Clinical Social Worker, I have a healthy respect for the impact our social environment has on us.  I always hope that through my respect, caring, and humor, we can explore deeply troubling issues.

Our initial meeting would include a review of the individual’s history and the identification of the problem.  Through discussion, goals will be set and a treatment plan will be developed.  My purpose is to find solutions that factor into the unique qualities of the patient.

I am a graduate of the Illinois School of Professional Psychology, and my focus as a Therapist is on adults, children, and family.  Much of my training is in Client Centered Therapy, and I have considerable amount of experience with developing programs that received high marks from both state and federally sponsored auditing agencies.

My philosophy and approach to treatment is to work with symptom management along with cognitive and affective issues that impact identity, motivation, insight, and life experience.

As a therapist, I will work with you to develop a dynamic treatment plan addressing Bio-Psychosocial issues in a relaxed setting.  I strive to work with my patients in order to create positive outcomes in their lives.

I understand life can be overwhelming and confusing at times, and it can be difficult to know what to do to feel better. As a licensed social worker, I embrace the opportunity to work with you through life’s challenges. I will assess your concerns through a biological, psychological, and social perspective; while using a textured therapeutic approach that includes therapies such as existential, psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, dialectical, and solution focused. We will work together to establish treatment goals and celebrate when positive changes are made. You will learn the necessary tools you need to reduce anxiety, manage mood, and cope with stressors. It is my hope that through a safe and nurturing environment, you will feel empowered to look inward and move forward.

While I frequently work with people who have significant health concerns, I also see a broad range of clients who have simply become stuck in patterns that do not work for them, while others have had some kind of life event causing distress, anxiety, grief, or depression. I work with children, adolescents, adults, families, and couples.

Psychiatric consultations and psychological referrals are provided in house if needed.
